Itinerary
Day 1Lhasa -Gyantse - Shigatse
You will be picked up from Gang-gyan Hotel Lhasa in the morning around 9:30am, then travel with your tour guide from Lhasa to Gyantse. On the way, the group will pass by the Gampa La Pass, which is the highest pass in Tibet; and you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok Tso Lake, it is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains. From here, you will have the spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar which is the highest mountain near Lhasa at 23,592 feet (7191m). Then, you will head westward towards the city of Gyantse and drive along the Yamdrik Tso Lake. As to altitude, the first day’s destination will the highest. Tourists will stop around the roadside and explore Korola Glacier (5030m). The texture and the tip of Korola Glacier can be clearly seen. Gyantse was Tibet's third largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse). In Gyantse, you will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum.
Day 2: Shigatse - Rongbuk monastery (B)
You will start your day by leaving Shigatse and head to Lhatse, it is a small town of a few thousand people in the Tibet Autonomous Region in the valley of the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Lhatse County, and your lunch will be served here at your own expense. After that, tourists will pass Tsola Pass(4600M), and Gyatsola Pass(5248M). Shortly after tourists enter Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve, tourists can enjoy the panorama of Himalaya at Gawula Pass(5198m).Then we drive along the New zigzag road to Everest Base Camp(5200m). After another 4 to 6 hours, you will arrive at Rongbuk Monastery.
Day 3Rongbuk monastery - Everest Base Camp - Shigatse
You will start today by watching the sunrise from Rongbuk Monastery, it is a perfect site to view the highest Everest and has a sense of untouched beauty for its quietness. Then you will visit to the tents area of Everest Base Camp and take the photos of 5200m Mt. Qomolangma Monument. After visiting the base camp, you can visit the Rongphu Monastery, which is the highest monastery in the world at 16,404 feet (5000m) high, and belongs to Nyingma sect. After that, driving back to Shigatse, where you will spend the night and enjoy your dinner at your own expense.
Day 4Shigatse - Lhasa (B)
You will start your day by heading to the Tashilunpo Monastery, which is the seat of Tibet's second highest incarnation, the Panchen Lama. Afterwards, you will be driven back to Lhasa through Friendship Highway. The whole ride is about 175 miles (280km), it will take about 6 hours to get back to Lhasa. Your tour will end by dropping you off at your accommodations in Lhasa.
