Admire the thousands of treasures at the Provincial History Museum, then admire the Drum and Bell Tower Square. Wander through the Muslim Quarter and local food market.
Travel by train to historic Lanzhou and explore the river city’s attractions. Enjoy a delicious handmade beef noodle dinner.
Continue your journey by train to Jiayuguan where you will visit the Pass and Great Wall. The Pass is known as one of the three wonders of the Great Wall.
Visit the fresco Tombs of the Wei and Jin Dynasty. They are known as the encyclopedia of the Silk Road because of their vivid depictions of ancient life. Transfer by train to Dunhuang after lunch.
Explore the World Heritage Listed Mogao Caves, filled with Buddhist cave paintings and sculptures. In the afternoon you will explore Yanguan.
In the morning explore the desert of the Humming Sandy Mountain and Crescent Moon Springs. You will also have the chance to take a scenic camel ride! Travel to Turpan by train in the afternoon.
Tour through the natural and man made sights of Turpan, and learn about the ancient Karez water system. In the evening you will enjoy a traditional song and dance show with Uyghur music.
Travel to Urumqi, in the foothills of snow-capped mountains. Walk around the Heavenly Lake, surrounded by fir trees. You will enjoy a special roast lamb dinner in this beautiful city.
After breakfast you will visit the Xinjiang Museum and also see the famous Tarim Mummies. In the afternoon wander through the bustling Grand Bazaar.
The day is free at your leisure until it is time to transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
